Friction material binder is a key constituent part of friction material which can affect thermal aging performance, recovery capacity, and friction and wear properties and mechanical properties. It includes hot thermosetting material, thermoplastic material, rubber and compound material and so on. In general, the car friction material is using a hot thermosetting binder. And its actual applicability of phenolic resin, melamine, epoxy, silicone, and polyamide resin and so on. The phenolic resin and modified resin can be used broadly. The purpose of modified resin is to improve high temperature performance. In order to improve the high temperature performance of binder, the polyimide resin is used broadly in the advanced car friction material.
